About
Formed in September 2006 following a few throw away comments and a well placed BC Magazine article. The team will compete in the newly formed Diadora Amateur League, which will consist of teams like the French Dragons FC, Golden Eagles, Japanese Shooters, Hong Kong Football Academy and the German Krauts. AEK Athenry's performance in the league has been slow but sure. Losing the first couple of games, they went on to losing only 1 in 6 and are starting to play steadier foootball, although results such as 6-5, 3-3, 4-4 and 4-2 probably doesn't reflect that.
Athenry is always on the look out for players of any nationality - with one pre-condition - you must be a gaelic footballer or show an interest in playing it some time.
