Countdown to 2014 TG4 Ladies All Star Tour

Hong Kong, 11th November 2013: Hong Kong Gaelic Football Club will host the 2014 TG4 Ladies Football All Stars Tour. The touring party, led by Ladies Gaelic Football Association CEO Helen O Rourke, will arrive in Hong Kong on 12th March 2014 for an action packed week. On Friday 14th March, The Hong Kong Football Club will host an extravaganza of sport featuring underage Gaelic football, ladies’ Gaelic football and a compromise rules game. The main event will be the 2012 and 2013 TG4 Ladies All Stars doing battle under the amazing Hong Kong skyline. Adding a touch of glamour to the tour, the touring party will attend the annual St Patrick’s Society Ball at the Grand Hyatt on Saturday evening. The All Stars will also run coaching clinics within schools and the club during their stay.

HKGFC Chairman Michael Barry, from Co. Clare, said “The club is very excited to welcome the TG4 Ladies All Stars to Hong Kong in 2014 for what promises to be a great tour. Hong Kong has a strong Irish community and this event will coincide with our annual ‘Celebrate Ireland week’*. This is an annual event held in conjunction with the St Patrick’s Society and the Irish Chamber of Commerce and showcases all that is great about Ireland such as music, dancing and our ancient games. Táimid ag súil go mór le sár-taispeántas ó chuid de na peileadóirí na mBan is fearr in Éirinn sa chathair iontach seo an bhliain seo chugainn”.

HKGFC Vice Chairperson Ruth Wynne, from Co. Westmeath, is excited about the All Stars visit “In recent years in Asia, ladies’ football in particular has seen impressive growth in both player numbers and mix of nationalities taking up our national sport. Having the best of the best from Ireland in Hong Kong will further promote Gaelic football in Hong Kong and around the region”.
